
A working-class Italian-American bouncer from the Bronx, Tony Lip (Viggo Mortensen), is hired to drive and protect world-class African-American pianist Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali) on a 1962 concert tour through the segregated Deep South. The film is named after "The Negro Motorist Green Book," a guide for Black travelers to find safe establishments during the Jim Crow era.
